Or not...

The courageous Spot you see before you was drawn and inked completely with my wacky pad. Took me a bit to do it, since I need to get used to the mechanics and feel of the pad, but definitely better than the first day I played with the ol' giz-ma-tron!
Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far with tricks and tips for the wacom!!!

Also, my wife helped me realize that in the comic before this one, Alien Encounter, It's sort of hard to notice that Mad Dog bites the alien in the second panel, which causes it to yell and let go of Spot. Did anyone catch that? Anyways, I'm going in there now and adjusting the panel to make it more noticeable! :)

Yea, thats what I would have done. It is nice to see someone draw what would actually happen instead of what usually never happens.

I didn't noticed that Mad Dog bit the alien so that Spot could fight.
I think I didn' put enought attention in reading it, sorry.
So, are you completely working in digital now? I am an "old school" artist... still use pencil, ink and so on. The only digital I use is to put the words inside the baloons and to put some screentones on the page.
Anyway, why did you choose the digital? It's easier? Faster?
I think digital must be very good for coloring too, isn't it?

Hey Spectrum!
Don't worry my friend, I think most people didn't notice the bite, Lol, hopefully now it's more noticeable!
I'm not ALL digital yet. Will I ever be? Probably not, nothing beats leaned over a piece of paper and drawing with a pencil! But with the digital process there are so many benefits. Saves time on erasing and scanning, especially for large page formats where my home scanner is not big enough so I have to go pay to use the large scanners at a print shop! The ink looks 100% crisp and And of course it saves PAPER! :) So yes, I am training myself to do things more digitally! But I'll never fully give up on the old pencil and ink!

Hey, he's going for help! ;D

Actually, it reminds me of my life philosophy... the Bear Rule... which states that if you go to the woods, be sure you take someone you can easily out-run. That way if you're attacked by a bear, you need not out-run the bear, just the sucka you're with. ;D

And I did notice that MD bit the alien, BTW. :)
LooeyQ 18th Sep 2012, 6:12 PM Edit Delete Reply
Ive heard of that rule! Only it was for zombies instead of bears :)
You saw the bite? Nice!! :D

You got a point with your discussion about digital works. I think I'm just not good at it, although I now realize there are many good points in using it.
